Many restaurants along the beach road and a large bar area to the southern end. Off the beach Road is a children’s water park. Wat Lamai hosts a display of artifacts from “Old Samui” before tourism. Away from the beach road there are roads leading in to the hills and a back road recently opened will take you through the hills to Maenam. To the south of Lamai are the famous Hin Ta - Hin Yai (Grandmother – Grandfather) Rocks

Still very much a “locals” area with only a few incursions by foreigners and those mainly on the outskirts. Many of the old timber shop-houses still remain along the main ring road and you will see many of the long tail fishing boats moored along the beach.
