Big Buddha and Plai Laem

Plai Laem covers a large part of the north east peninsular from Big Buddha in the south west to Tong Son Bay in the north and across to where it meets Choengmon in the east. It is principally a residential area but includes the famous Wat Plai Laem with its massive statue of the 18-arm image of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion and the Laughing Buddha statue sitting in the centre of a lake inhabited by voracious Catfish. This is the location of many fairs and concerts accompanied by impressive firework displays. Part of the temple is the famous Big Buddha situated on a man-made peninsular just to the west of the main temple. There are a number of high quality hotels in this area including the Six Senses and Tong Sai Bay. Beaches here tend to be narrow and often fully covered at high tide.

The airport is close by with arrivals 10 minutes and departures 15 minutes away.


A beautiful new, modern villa in the Samui Sanctuary development, located in Plai Laem, very close to Choeng Mon Beach, on the north-eastern tip of Koh Samui.  With three bedrooms (sleeps a maximum of six), two and a half bathrooms, open-plan lounge, dining room, kitchen; private swimming pool and covered outdoor dining area, this is an ideal villa to use as a base to explore the delights of Koh Samui, to relax by the pool, or to entertain family and friends.

On the ground floor is an air-conditioned open-plan kitchen, dining room, lounge, leading to the garden, where you can relax on the pool terrace on one of the sun loungers, swim in the private pool, enjoy a sunset cocktail in the covered bar area, or dine under the stars.

The lounge is furnished with a white L-shape sofa, a 55” 3D TV with surround-sound and satellite channels.

The western-style, modern kitchen includes an oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and the dining area seats six.

The three bedrooms, with king-size beds, built-in wardrobes, matching bedside cabinets, ceiling fans and air-conditioning, are located on the first floor.

The master bedroom has a built-in electronic personal safe and en-suite bathroom with rain shower; and the other two bedrooms share an en-suite bathroom with rain shower.  An additional WC is located on the ground floor.

Plai Laem is the ideal location, home of the Big Buddha, Samui's most popular tourist attraction, and Wat Plai Laem, a Buddhist temple compound; just 10 minutes by car to Fisherman’s Village, the original French settlement that plays host to the local Walking Street Night Market every Friday evening; 10 minutes by car to Chaweng, offering Samui's longest and most popular beach, as well as the largest concentration of restaurants, bars, shops and lively night life; and 10 minutes from Koh Samui airport.

Within walking distance of the villa are a number of street restaurants and bars.  Choeng Mon, which is a 20-minute walk from the villa, or two minutes by car, is made up of a series of bays, featuring wide sandy beaches, with a selection of beach restaurants and bars offering beautiful night views over the bay.

Additional Information about Rental Rates:

Inclusions and Exclusions:

Rates include cleaning service, linen and towels twice a week, pool, garden and maintenance services, mains water and wi-fi.

Rates do not include electricity which is charged separately, and is payable before departure.

Initial Deposit:

Unless otherwise specified in the confirmation of availability, a completed booking form, signed rental agreement and a thirty percent (30%) deposit are required to confirm a booking.

Fifty percent (50%) of the villa rental due must be paid to confirm a booking for the Christmas/New Year period.

For bookings made within thirty (30) days of arrival, full payment is due upon confirmation.  This is applicable at all times.

Security Deposit:

For bookings of up to one month, a security deposit of 20,000 THB is required to be paid on arrival. For bookings longer than one month, a security deposit of 30,000 THB is required to be paid on arrival. This is to cover the cost of any breakages or damage to the villa during the rental period.  It may also be used to cover the cost of excessive cleaning, should this be required.

Payment Due Date:

Unless otherwise specified in the confirmation of availability, payment of the outstanding balance must be received thirty (30) days prior to arrival.  If payment is not received by the due date, we will deem the booking to have been cancelled and cancellation charges will apply.

For bookings made within thirty (30) days of arrival, full payment is due upon confirmation and prior to arrival.  This is applicable at all times.

Cancellation Policy: 

The following cancellation charges will apply, depending on when notification of the cancellation is received in writing, and the period of stay in the villa.

Thirty (30) days or more before arrival date:

The deposit is forfeited but credited for twelve (12) months from the date of confirmation of the cancellation by us. The credit value can be applied towards a future rental for the same villa during any period, depending on availability, by the Guest or anyone on his or her behalf.

Within thirty (30) days of arrival date:

All rental payments are forfeited.  A full or partial refund will only be given in the event that the Agents secure another reservation fully or partially covering the initial cancelled reservation.
