Description

Waterfall Villa
Carved into the natural rock formations on a forested Koh Samui hillside, Waterfall Villa is an astonishing private residence that successfully blurs the lines between architecture and nature. As soon as you enter this unique, inspired property you see why it lives up to its name. A waterfall cascades down a 14 m. granite rock face right inside the villa, an intriguing ecological design feature that also forms a natural 7m indoor plunge pool with a natural stone bench to sit on beneath the falling water, a welcome respite from the tropical heat.

The villa’s rooms are equally original in every aspect. The majestic four-poster bed in the master suite for example, invites restful repose to the sound of nature’s symphony while the granite rock extends from the floor below to form a solid stone day bed that rises through the centre of the bedroom’s wooden floor, a powerful reminder of nature’s ever-present grace.

Granite boulders also frame the villa’s generous ensuite bathing spaces, a testament to the owner’s commitment to work with, rather than against, the villa’s natural foundations. The interiors include hued woods, white washed walls and beamed ceilings. All of which combine to deliver an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity.
Gentle light filters through traditional Thai lamp shades, casting artistic shadows at night and adding a relaxed, homey feel. You can even match the villa’s ambiance to your mood, changing the intensity of lighting and waterfall and playing your favourite music through the integrated sound system.

Leading edge enhancements like computerised lighting controls and a pull-down projector screen add sophistication and convenience to a Waterfall Villa. While outside the grounds come alive with tropical plants and offer a range of communal facilities, including an ocean view swimming pool.
An indulgent yet uncomplicated lifestyle awaits you at Waterfall Villa. One that will particularly suit those with a taste for creativity, retreat, meditation, rest and escape.
The villa is located in the hills of Laem Set on arguably one of the most beautiful sites that Koh Samui has to offer. Built around a fourteen metre high granite rock, with views over the stunning west and southern tip of the island you may find it challenging to discover a better sunset spot or nature retreat. The location and its beauty was the initial attraction the designer of the villa, multi-media artist Alan Kozlowski in 2004.

The doors are made from reclaimed Takian wood procured from a boat yard in the South of the Kingdom. The fixtures and fittings are of the highest quality and designed to be intrinsically connected to the natural setting. Huge slabs of beautiful Kanchaniburi rock which have been intuitively placed around the property as flooring, furniture and features add another element of richness to the already unique combination of attributes. The furnishings add an understated component to the space with pieces bought from various parts of the globe or handcrafted specifically for the villa. The layout of the 1500 square metre property guides you through verdant landscaped gardens using lush tropical plants with fragrances and natural rock paths it unifies the house, garden and naturally occurring landscape. Continuing the bespoke theme of the dwelling, lighting features of painstakingly woven and cultivated hanging Spanish moss have been distributed amongst the trees to create a magical and atmospheric effect.
The master bedroom can be found at the top of the property in a separate building above the main villa and provides all the required amenities, including a small kitchen as well as the additional luxury of a sunken tub built into the rocks, allowing for bathing whilst taking in the views. Further down the hill in the largest section of granite rock is the main villa featuring an impressive pair of thick, hand carved doors. The rock is magnificently utilized as a back wall, water feature and plunge pool. With water cascading with variable, controllable volume, the effect is truly magical.
