Description

Samujana is located in the north east of the resort island of Koh Samui. The magnificent site has almost 90m of elevation from beach front to summit of the hill and has an aspect which takes in the view of the entire island and the small islands located in the gulf of Thailand beyond.

Gfab have designed 26 villas each tailored to its unique topographical conditions and the requirements of the individual owner. Each villa is set on a 1 rai plot (1600sqm) within a master plan designed by Gfab.  Each villa averages 450 sqm living space with private swimming pools.

The accommodation offered is typically 4 bedroom/suites with en suite bathrooms, a study which converts to a 5th bedroom, naturally ventilated living & dining rooms and air conditioned rooms for audio/visual activities. Most villas feature “top down” entries and as such roofs are conceived as flat reflecting pools with infinity edges designed to finish in the ocean beyond. In addition to the houses and master plan Gfab are assuming
responsibility for landscape design, a range of sporting/gym/spa facilities and a club house restaurant on the hills summit which will provide a 360 degree panorama over the whole island and all of the villa designs are none beyond law.

The site has no neighbors and no local vernacular to follow. Our designs sought to utilize excavated material (rock) and all materials are locally sourced. Each villa is a response to the specific topography of its site including responding to any major trees and rock outcrops found on (there) site, which were incorporated into the villa design(s)i.

Excavated rock was used to form a major part of the cladding, in addition materials were selected for cost, proximity to the location and skill levels commonplace on the island. The
palette is kept very simple: local black slate in wet areas and pools, sand washed/rough terrazzo floors and painted plaster form the major materials which are attenuated with the
sparing use of local timbers for decks, doors and windows.
The buildings are primarily masonry construction with reinforced concrete and stone –– there is very little flammable material employed so fire fighting is kept very simple –– submersible
pumps are used with pools for firefighting –– very simple.
Rock excavated during construction was used for cladding, simple commonplace materials used, design minimizes cuts and waste material by careful setting out.

Thick walls, good through ventilation and ponds and gardens used to form the roof surfaces. Windows benefit from deep overhangs and courtyards, often with pools encourage through ventilation. Rain water catchment coupled with VRV AC and heat pumps (HWS) are incorporated into the design as a way to use renewable technology.

Each villa has different layouts for bedrooms as the use of space varied in different locations and settings to maximize its topographical potentials, internally and externally, so there is no typical layout.

Owners also benefit from having the villas and common areas managed by a dedicated team trained under the hotel management team's direct supervision to ensure the quality of service and standards matches that of the hotel.

This villa has been recently constructed to the highest standards. It has four ensuite bedrooms which are all self contained. The bedrooms have floor to ceiling windows and sumptuous king sized beds, as well as day beds. They are also surrounded by private terraces. Each bathroom features a generous sized bathtub and walk in shower as well as an outdoor showering area.
The house has an open plan kitchen which is fitted with modern amenities and overlooks an infinity pool. A fully equipped AV room contains a plasma screen television and surround sound system.
